Simple Budget-Friendly Home Gym w/ Flybird Fitness

Simple Budget-Friendly Home Gym w/ Flybird Fitness

*Disclosure: Flybird Fitness sent me their Power Tower to try out and review. I was already a customer having purchased a couple products previously. They did not get to preview this post before publishing nor did they have any input.

If you've been following me for a bit you might have noticed that I've been losing some weight. Quite a bit in fact. When I started hunting in 2022 I weighed an extremely husky 320 lbs and quite frankly I was miserable.

I also knew that wasn't going to cut it for the types of hunting I wanted to do. My first hunt, 2022 Oregon Spring Bear, was rough. I actually pushed myself too far beyond my physical abilities and injured my back.

Things had to change.

Since then I've lost over 80 lbs, went from a 3XL shirt to and XL, and size 40 pants to 36.

The folks over at Flybird Fitness took notice as well and reached out to see if I wanted to try out their Power Tower. I had already previously purchased (with my own money) their adjustable dumbbells and weight bench, so it seemed like a great chance to create a mini home gym as I continue this long journey towards better health and fitness.

Power Tower Overview

Flybird Fitness offers a range of pull-up and dip stations designed to enhance home workouts by providing versatile and durable equipment. These stations are constructed from heavy-duty, powder-coated tubular steel, ensuring longevity and stability during exercises. Key features include anti-skid feet for enhanced stability, high-density cushioning for comfort, padded handles, and arm supports to facilitate safe and effective training sessions.

My particular model includes the assistance bands, which is a great additional feature for beginners and those looking to build strength gradually. While I may have been a high school water polo state champion and collegiate athlete, those days are long gone and I've been out of the gym way too long. Rebuilding is going to be a long-term process.

My First Impressions

While I haven't had a ton of time with the unit quite yet, my initial impressions align with the general consensus I've seen online. Not perfect, not top of the line quality, but really solid and affordable equipment for home use.

The diverse exercises the unit facilitates gives me a full-body workout where, so far, my personal abilities are the only limiting factor.

The assist bands give me confidence to work on my form and build strength slowly without injury.

Coupled with the weight bench and dumbbells, I have an extremely versatile home gym setup that comes in well under $1,000 total.

If you're in the market to make a purchase right now, Flybird is currently in the middle of their Black Friday sale offering additional savings. They've also activated the coupon code WILDFOOD to give you 22% off site-wide. That adds some additional savings bringing this particular setup under $700!

Final Thoughts

Time will tell if the Flybird equipment holds up to my normal use over time. For now, I'm looking forward to starting to build strength and continue improving my fitness and overall health.

I've made great strides in the last couple years but still have a long way to go. Keep following along and hopefully we can inspire each other to be the best possible version of ourselves.

Thanks for your support!
