Come Hell or High Water: MKC’s Fundraiser for Disaster Relief

When disaster strikes, it’s hard to know how to help. For the Montana Knife Company (MKC), their answer is both simple and profound: take what they do best—crafting exceptional knives—and turn it into meaningful action. The "Come Hell or High Water" fundraiser is their response to the devastation caused by recent wildfires in Southern California and hurricane-related flooding in North Carolina.

This special fundraiser combines community spirit, craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to helping those in need. MKC is offering a limited-edition collection that includes a t-shirt and a custom Zippo lighter, with 100% of proceeds going to support victims of these disasters. Every $5 spent on the collection earns an entry into a raffle to win one of two custom, handmade knives forged by MKC founder and master bladesmith Josh Smith.

The knives are as unique as the fundraiser itself. Using antlers from an elk harvested by country music artist Chase Rice in Montana, Josh crafted one knife to benefit North Carolina and a second to support California. These blades symbolize resilience and the power of collective action, created with care and purpose to provide aid to families and small businesses directly affected by these tragedies.

This isn’t the first time MKC has stepped up for communities in need. A previous "Come Hell or High Water" campaign raised $80,000 for Montana towns impacted by flooding near Red Lodge and Yellowstone Park. This year, with the company’s reach and resources having grown, MKC hopes to surpass that milestone and make an even greater impact.

In addition to the t-shirt and lighter sales, MKC partner brands are contributing additional prizes, which will be detailed on their website as the fundraiser progresses. This ensures even more opportunities to give back—and win—for those who support the campaign.

MKC has also committed to carefully selecting nonprofit partners to ensure that the funds raised go directly to the people who need them most. Whether it’s helping families rebuild homes or supporting small businesses struggling to recover, every dollar will be put to good use.

For Josh and Chase, this fundraiser is deeply personal. Chase’s decision to donate his elk antlers and Josh’s dedication to handcrafting these one-of-a-kind knives reflect their shared commitment to doing what they can for others. Both are determined to keep these affected communities in the spotlight long after the initial headlines have faded.
